A Simple Way to Create Web Pages

Layout

Once you have gathered all of your information, you can plan the layout of your pages. It is best to choose one layout and use it throughout all of your pages.

Linear

This layout organizes information in a straight line. Each page contains links to allow readers to move through the information in a linear fashion. Each page may also contain a link back to the home page.

Hierarchical

With this layout, all pages branch off the main page, which usually contains an index or table of contents. The most general information is found on the home page and more specific information is displayed on the linked pages.

Web

This design has no overall structure and is ideal for pages that do not need to be read in a specific order. Designers often create a map to help visitors find all of the available pages.

Combination

Designers often combine elements of all of these types of layout. This provides the greatest freedom and flexibility in your site.
